Future Plans.
As part of our modernization programme we are planning to introduce the most advanced technologies in library management like Online catalogue, Mechnanised charging system and a Digital Library etc. It is also proposed to link up the library to the best institutions in the country like University Libraries and IITs via internet.

Digital Library
A fully air-conditioned Digital Library is on the anvil with internet connection and satellite link and master computer with 10 nodes.
Aims & Objectives
The Digital Library System will be an extensive and hospitable IT system enabling the Library to meet its strategic and operational objectives in relation to the collection of digital materials and the provision of access to them. The library shall identify select areas of interest as the prime focus for collection, development and shall commence work on a turn-key basis. This will include mostly public domain information catering to the needs of general public, student community, job seekers, government servants, literary scholars and professionals such as engineers and doctors etc.

Social Characteristics
The Kozhikode Public Library is a leading social institution in the city of Kozhikode, acting as the cultural hub of the community. It is located at the heart of the city, situated in a beautiful building showcasing the Kerala style traditional architecture. The library enjoys four thousand plus membership which is a unique feature in the state of Kerala as far as a single library is concerned. The library is quite spacious and introduction, expansion and extension of innovative and novel services are welcome by both the management as well as the members of the library.
The Digital library will be a strong force in the cultural fabric of the City of Kozhikode, appropriately responding and keeping pace with the trends in technology.

Career Guidance Centre
Since the library's collection is of a general nature, the needs of the student community especially in the areas of science and technology and medicine cannot be effectively met. Therefore the library is making a major attempt to fill the gap by developing a career guidance centre by identifying 30 different areas as most prospective fields of job oriented studies.
